I have never been familiar with my relatives. My life would be completely different if the Chinese tradition were to be part of my life. Somewhere in my hometown, there could be a book of names of all my ancestors. And I would never know, their existence remains in my common knowledge. But looking at the pines staring side by side, it feels like all those part of me that is lost is in that hollow sound of winter.
